Flights to the Czech Republic in 2026: Prague Airport and Getting to the City

Flights to the Czech Republic most commonly arrive through Prague, the country’s principal international air gateway. Before booking, check not only the airfare but also the arrival terminal, baggage allowance and transport to your final destination.

Prague Airport offers several public transport connections to the city as well as a separate Airport Express service to the main railway station.

Passengers connecting to other Czech cities should plan enough time between their flight and onward train or coach, especially when travelling with checked luggage.

Flights to the Czech Republic: choosing an airport

Prague Airport serves international travellers arriving in the capital. Other Czech airports may also have scheduled flights, but the available destinations and schedules depend on the season and airline. Check directly with each airport and carrier before buying.

How to travel from Prague Airport by public transport

According to Prague Airport, trolleybus line 59 connects the terminals with Nádraží Veleslavín and metro line A in approximately 15 minutes. Bus 100 links the airport with Zličín and metro line B in approximately 18 minutes.

Normal Prague public transport fares apply to these services; tickets should be purchased before boarding or according to the operator's ticketing instructions.

Airport Express to the main railway station

The Airport Express runs between the airport and Praha hlavní nádraží in approximately 40 minutes, depending on road traffic. It has extra space for large luggage and provides a convenient connection to national and international trains.

Regular Prague public transport tickets cannot be used on this special Airport Express route.

Which ticket should you buy

The standard city routes and Airport Express have different fares. Before buying, decide whether you need a metro connection or direct access to the main railway station. Check the current fare and service timetable on the official transport websites.

Documents and travel insurance

Entry requirements depend on citizenship, residence status and the purpose of travel. A flight ticket is not a visa or residence permit. Travellers should also check insurance requirements and passport validity well before departure.

What to do if your flight is delayed

Save the airline booking and disruption notices. EU air-passenger rights can apply depending on the carrier, airport and circumstances. Allow extra time if you have a separately booked train or coach: those onward services may not be protected by the airline reservation.
